Budget

We are going through the toughest economic times of our lives and as funding is becoming more scarce on the State and Federal levels, we need to do the most we possibly can with what we have.

This year our State Aid was reduced by 2.7 million dollars.  Why is our percentage of decrease different from other districts?  Because ALBANY decides there are others of greater need.  Nonsense!  Look at the effect this is having on Minisink.  We need it too.  That is the part that needs to be addressed by all citizens.  Whatever money there is to be distributed, we do not deserve less that others.

Call your representatives and let your voice be heard.  Money is often being spent to buy votes and in these tough economic times WE are suffering as a result.  Our community is being damaged.

This budget is in place.  There have been massive cuts of positions.  I hope that the economic situation improves and that we can replace those that are needed soon.

I hear people talk of voting the budget down to “force” a greater budget to be put up for a vote.  This is unrealistic.  I think the board would next present an austerity budget or go right to austerity without a vote.

It is important that  our schools stay fiscally sound while providing the best education possible to the children of our community.

I ask for your vote on May 18.

GET OUT AND VOTE!
That is the best way to keep the “public” in Public Education.
